Heritage at Sliding Rock - Groundbreaking Ceremony

Please join the Greenville Housing Authority on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 9:30 am to memorialize the construction start of the Heritage at Sliding Rock with an official groundbreaking ceremony. Heritage at Sliding Rock, located at 125 Ramsey Drive, Greenville, SC is a 60 unit affordable housing community for seniors ages 62 an older. The three story building will include 42 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments. It will also offer 12 two-bedroom cottages.

Heritage at Sliding Rock is part of an on-going master plan for the Jesse Jackson Townhome Revitalization Project. In 2004 the Housing Authority of the City of Greenville received a $20 million United States Department of Housing & Urban Development HOPE VI grant for the development of Heritage Commons. The Revitalization Plan (Heritage Commons) included the development of 532 rental units and 26 single-family homes. Currently there are 472 rental units and approximately 6 acres of vacant land. Heritage at Sliding Rock will increase the rental unit portfolio from 472 to 532.

The agenda includes remarks from Danielle Gibbs, Upstate Regional Director for U.S. Senator Tim Scott; Laura B. Turner, Upstate Regional Director for U.S. Senator Lindsey O. Graham; Kam Turner, Grants Coordinator for Congressman Trey Gowdy; Senator Karl B. Allen; State Representative Chandra E. Dillard; Mayor Knox White; and Councilwomen Jil Littlejohn. Remarks will also be provided by our partners: Ed Knight, Deputy Director of the SC State Housing Finance & Development Agency; Drew Schaumber, Owner of Schaumber Development; Mike Rodgers, Acquisitions Manager for Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation and Delores Durham, President of the Nicholtown Neighborhood Association.
