DID YOU KNOW?
Scott Towers was named after E.E. Scott, long-time chairman of the Greenville Housing Authority. Mr. Scott served on the Housing Authority’s board for 35 years.
May 20, 1971 | Groundbreaking Ceremony held for Scott Towers. The 203 unit , 14-story high rise apartment constructed on the corner of August and Thurston streets is designated exclusively for older persons. On hand for the ground-breaking were Mayor R. Cooper White, Jr.: Mayor-elect Max Heller; several city councilmen; Robert G. Chamblee, executive director of the housing authority; authority commissioners, and representatives of groups active in developing programs to help older citizens.
July 2, 1972 | Scott Towers changes the skyline of the city of Greenville.
January 19, 2014 | Scott Towers Imploded.
July 25, 2014 | Firefighters participate in a disaster exercise at the site Scott Towers.
