TGHA Wins Two NAHRO National Awards of Merit!
We are proud to announce we received two National Awards of Merit from the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials for our Youth Reading Center and the Youth Summit and Spelling Bee.
Our Youth Reading Center was made possible through a partnership with the Women of Ford Credit (WFC) who donated books& purchased furniture to create a library for pre-school and middle school children who are residents in TGHA properties.
The library currently contains over 400 books of which 150 were received by the Library of Congress Books Surplus program. WFC also hosts a back to school drive every summer, just before school begins, to provide book bags & school supplies to the resident children of TGHA. We give special thanks to Barbara Jones and Catherine Duluc from the Women of Ford Credit.
The Youth Summit and Spelling Bee is a collaboration of housing authorities in the state of South Carolina who come together on an annual basis to offer our elementary and middle schooled aged children a three-day retreat of educational enrichment opportunities to include a Spelling Bee! Special thanks to all the SC Housing Authorities who ensure that our families are given opportunities beyond brick and mortar.
